Corinne Kessel

Principal

“I am inspired by watching my team succeed and getting the opportunity to work with talented, passionate and enthusiastic people everyday.”

Corinne is the proud owner and Principal of Greenscape since 2007. She started with the company in 2004, in a variety of roles including: Design Consultant, Senior Design Consultant, Sales Manager, and Operations Manager. Her greatest accomplishment has been surrounding herself with an inspiring, talented, and dedicated team of people at Greenscape that care about the clients and the company as much as she does.Corinne graduated from the University of Alberta with an MA and BMus, and from The Royal Roads University with a Graduate Certificate in Project Management. Her past experiences include, being the Managing Producer for a successful independent touring theatre company, November Theatre from 1998-2009, being the Composer and Musical Director for over 25 award winning theatrical productions, writing “The Words and Music of Tom Waits” which was published in 2008, and she currently plays trombone (yes trombone) in the reggae band “Los Furios” which has 6 CD releases and are much more famous in Mexico than Canada.As well a being an Artistic Associate for November Theatre, Corinne is the President for ISES Vancouver, an Event Coordinator for the BCSCA, performs regularly with her band, Los Furios, and even sleeps on occasionPossessing a unique blend of creativity, innovation, leadership, and project management experience, Corinne ensures that your projects will “rock” but also be on time and on budget.

Interesting Fact:

Corinne is a master Ukrainian Easter Egg decorator. She has mad skills with wax, dye, and raw eggs.

Melissa Laithwaite

Creative Director

“Surround yourself with people that you aspire to be like” – Melissa’s Nana

Melissa is our Creative Director and she handles all of our commercial and residential design projects and holiday décor. With a background in the arts and professional makeup, she brings a keen eye for detail and an impressive ability to discern just what any given space needs to really make it feel complete. Her award winning Christmas designs have been celebrated internationally, and she might just be the only person who never ever gets tired of the glittery goodness of the holidays. A born and bred Vancouverite, Melissa draws inspiration for her “green scapes” from the natural beauty that surrounds us here on the West Coast. In her spare time she loves to perform, and uses her crafty skills to make outrageous costumes and mix show tune mashups. She loves food and wine and her favourite thing to do at work is spoil her teammates with cupcakes. Melissa is expecting her first baby this August, so make sure you track her down before then for one of her thoughtful designs.

Parke

Operations Manager

Parke joined the Greenscape team in 2008, bringing with her over 5 years experience running her own business of a Vintage and Retro Collectables On-Line store. As our Operations Manager, Parke generally feels responsible for everything (which she kinda is) and does great work keeping the warehouse running smoothly and providing great customer service.

Her past accomplishments include her BA in Women’s Studies with a focus in Fine Art. This experience gives Parke a great eye for display and design and the ability to colour outside of the lines. She loves trees, nature, creating, design, love, and smashing things, which makes her a perfect fit for Greenscape.

Interesting Fact:

Parke has an extensive robot collection and is a super rad dancer.

Emily MacDonald

Sales and Design Manager

"Rise to the influence of the company you keep"

Emily comes from a background in hospitality and events. She started working in hotels and restaurants within Vancouver in customer and guest services. In 2009, she moved into operations, marketing and sales on the supplier side of the event industry. With a passion for design and "trying new things" she applies her skills and background as well as ingenuity and problem solving abilities to sell to Greenscape's commercial and residential clients. When not managing artificial botanicals, she spends time with her dog (Goldie Hawn) amongst the living trees on hikes.

Interesting Fact:

After high school, Emily studied culinary arts and worked as a professional baker for 2 years. She's a wiz with a whisk!

Amanda Katz

Creative Events Coordinator

Amanda was born and raised in Montreal, Quebec. There, she attended Concordia University and obtained a Bachelors in Human Relations. She brings a fresh perspective to the West Coast.Amanda's fascination with design and events began at a young age, first watching and then helping her mother create floral arrangements for special events. She spent several years working in many areas of the events industry, honing her skills and preparing for her dream job. She has found it here at Greenscape as our creative events coordinator. Amanda's varied experience, ingenuity, resourcefulness, and vision are invaluable when it comes to producing events. She is easily recognizable with her sunny disposition, and she'll put you at ease with her quick and clever solutions to any issue that may arise.

Interesting Fact:

While on a volunteering trip to Nicaragua Amanda fell down the side of a volcano - there's video to prove it!

Courtney Westwood

Event Operations Coordinator

Courtney Westwood is a dedicated special events professional with over 10 years experience. A majority of her career so far has been spent working in the Cowichan Valley where she was involved in venue management, event marketing and planning community events. Coming from a small town with dreams of moving to the big city and using more of her creative side, Courtney is proud to be the new Special Events Coordinator for Greenscape Design & Decor. Courtney has been a competitive athlete most of her life and is a former semi-pro field hockey goalkeeper. She’s also a Canucks fan, loves to cook, travel, plays guitar for fun and is looking forward to getting her CSEP soon.

Sarah d'Artois

Wedding Designer

Sarah split her time growing up between Montreal, QC and Pemberton, BC, and has developed a unique style of design that encompasses both urban and rural influences. Sarah is currently pursuing her degree in Interior Design at BCIT. As the Wedding Designer at Greenscape, Sarah is on hand to help with planning, designing and coordinating anything relating to weddings and rentals, making your special day amazing.

Interesting Fact:

Sarah won first place in the Powder Puff Girls race, in the 4x4 Pemberton truck rally, and it was the first and only time she had ever driven a rally truck!

Jenna de Kleer

Warehouse Team Floral Designer

Jenna started at Greenscape in the summer of 2010, and works in the warehouse creating floral designs and arrangements, organizing inventory as well as preparing film and event orders. Her favorite part of the job is going onsite to set up the decor elements with the rest of the team; there is a feeling of fulfillment at the end when you look around and see all the different items together in a grand display.

Her previous experience includes working in the floral industry since 2005 after graduating from Kwantlen University College with a certificate in Commercial Floristry and later a Floral Arranging Certificate Program and has also completed a Wedding Planning course at BCIT. Jenna has worked with a wedding/events decorator, and in various office and customer service settings, which further kindled her passion for event decorating and design. When she’s not working for Greenscape, Jenna moonlights with her own small, home-based floral design business and creates arrangements for friends and family.

In her spare time, she enjoys watching movies with friends, baking tasty treats in her kitchen, and playing a round of Carcasonne or Settlers of Catan.

Interesting Fact:

Jenna and her husband have a pet turtle (Red Eared Slider). His name is Rosco. He’s awesome!

Colleen McNeil

Bookkeeper

Colleen joined Greenscape in 2008 as our number cruncher and has proven to be a wonderful addition to the team. She diligently keeps our finances in line with a constant upbeat attitude (except when we lose a receipt!) and is willing to tackle any project we throw at her.

Colleen has over 18 years experience in the office and accounting fields, which she enjoys thoroughly – much to some people’s amazement. Some of her previous accounting positions were at Western Stevedoring, Red Cross Society, Salvation Army and In Balance Accounting Services. She is an integral part of the Greenscape family!

Interesting Fact:

This girl loves a good hoedown – if it ain’t country, it ain’t music!

Jethro Sweird

Production Lead

Jethro has been with Greenscape since 2007 in the role of Production Coordinator, which means he is responsible for overseeing many of our custom designs and fabrication projects. Everyday he looks forward to working with such a positive team (that is what you call a group of women you deal with daily – “a positive team,” though on some days, Jethro has other words to describe this phenomenon…).

With over 18 years of warehouse and custom furniture building experience (yes he is the oldest feller at Greenscape), Jethro is a fountain of knowledge and bad puns and enjoys designing and building whatever custom projects we can throw at him.

When he is not at Greenscape, Jethro can be seen performing with his reggae/ska band, Los Furios, spending time with his twin boys or playing croquet with The Delta Triple Peels.

Interesting Fact:

Jethro has over 400 hotwheels hidden in his home. This is a secret collection, so don’t tell his girlfriend.

Mike Chadwick

Mike has been part of the Greenscape team since November 2014. Mike is known best for his positive attitude, organizational skills and leadership. Mike can build anything you can dream up and has done so on many occasions. We are very excited to have Mike on our sales and design team!

Interesting Fact:

Mike may not know everyone but everyone seems to know him. Probably because of his rainbow dreadlocks and shiny pants!

Ashylnn Hilstad

Ashlynn has been working with Greenscape since 2014. In that time, she has become one of the go-to team members who works on the plant decor Browns Socialhouse chain of restaurants.

Ashlynn crochets and sews, collects dolls and is a wiz at Disney trivia!

Rae is a Communications student at SFU. Her interests are in symbols and storytelling through visual design. Rae plays the mandolin and Dungeons and Dragons in her spare time. She loves most the dynamic and convivial work environment at Greenscape and someday hopes to know the name of every flower, plant and tree in the warehouse!

Ada Dragomir

Ada comes to Greenscape from a dual background in fine arts sculptural practice and residential cleaning, making her creatively adept and strongly detail oriented. Ada enjoys dynamic collaboration, sees the world through the lens of collective justice and feels truly invigorated by watching cat videos when not at work.
